Chicago's big Week 6 win over Atlanta showed that there is still hope in this Bears team - and in Jay Cutler

Last week against the Panthers, the entire Bears organization looked flat. But in Chicago's Week 6 win over the Falcons, there was a sense of rejuvenation felt not only in Halas Hall, but also in the entire city of Chicago.

The Bears showed that they not only hopeful to maintain pace in the NFC North, but they are completely confident that they can take control of this powerhouse division before the season's end. With a big win in the Georgia Dome, a place where the Atlanta Falcons look like a well-oiled machine, the Bears improved to 3-3 and are in the thick of their division. With the 27-13 win, Chicago also improved to a solid 3-1 road record, although there were so many Bears fans at the Dome, this felt almost like a neutral site.

Man, that is freaking awesome. By the middle of the fourth quarter, most Falcon fans left the game. The last 5 minutes of the game felt like a Bears home game at Soldier Field. During the game, chants of "Let's go Bears!" arose. The Bears fans were so loud, Matt Ryan had to call a timeout with about five minutes to go. Jared Allen and Kyle Long were waving their hands in the air, and the Bears fans got even louder. After the game, Falcon fans were few and far between, and Bears fans were making quite the scene at the Dome, chanting and partaking in a bunch of Atlanta-based dances, such as the Nae-Nae.

Anyways, you could tell just by looking at the fans that there is still hope and faith in this Bears team that's already lost two very winnable games this season.

And then you look down on the field (I was at this game), and both sides of the ball for Chicago are clicking. Finally, the Bears offense is showing up - and in a big way. The highlight out of of all the offensive drives was definitely the 74-yard pass from Cutler to Alshon Jeffery. Then, after a Matt Forte touchdown run, the defensive unit came onto the field, pumped, ready to work. After the defense forced a Falcons three-and-out, the offense came back onto the field.

There was a huge change of attitude on the Bears' sideline in Week 6. After weeks of disappointment on the offensive side of the football, the Bears O finally showed up.

The Bears defense made some big stops, including a Willie Young (right) 3rd-down sack.

Matt Forte (right) came up big for the Bears with two touchdown runs.

Everyone on the Bears sideline seemed energized, and this Bears team looked really fun to watch. The Bears could easily have given up after two embarrassing losses to the Packers and Panthers, but Marc Trestman's squad showed that there is still pride in Chicago football. And that's what we as Bears fans love to hear, especially after Weeks 4 and 5.

The Bears went out onto the field, put the two previous losses behind them, and went all-out against the Falcons. And boy, was it fun to watch.

But the catalyst for Chicago's success was surely Jay Cutler. Cutler had one of the best performances in his Bears career in Week 6, throwing for 381 yards and a touchdown. Jay was really efficient too, attempting only 38 passes, but completing 26. Six of Cutler's completions went for at least 19 yards. But what Cutler really showed on the field on Sunday wasn't the numbers; it was his leadership, and the numbers took care of themselves. Surely, a big reason why Cutler was taking aim at this Falcons secondary is because, well, this Falcons secondary stinks. But nonetheless, Cutler was awesome Sunday. Critics will say Jay only did this well because of the Falcons defense, but they need to remember the fact that the Falcons are dominant at home. Coming into this matchup, Matt Ryan was 34-11 at home. 34-11. And yes, a lot of that is because Matt Ryan is great at the Georgia Dome. But a good quarterback isn't enough to get you to a record of 34-11. Your defense needs to be good too.

And the Falcons defense can be attributed as as reason why Matt Ryan is 34-11 in the Dome.

Anyways, let's not take anything away from Jay Cutler. We may not see this type of performance from him in a while. A big reason why Cutler did this well is because the Bears weren't sloppy with the football. No Bear fumbled, and Jay threw zero picks. Yes, Jay Cutler threw zero interceptions in a regular season football game.

If Cutler can play this well consistently (which is a big "if", but it's fun to imagine), it would be unthinkable how good this team would be. As I mentioned in my last post, if the Bears want to be successful, they will need Jay Cutler to perform well (and relatively turnover-free) on a regular basis.

Jay Cutler was definitely the MVP in the Bears Week 6 win over the Falcons.

The Bears team that we've waited a while to see has finally shown up in Atlanta. The offense was clicking, and the defense was holding up strong.

Chicago will need more performances like these - both from Cutler and the rest of the team - in order to maintain pace with both the Packers and the Lions in the competitive NFC North division.
