Ranking all 30 MLB Caps
From Worst to First...
30. Colorado Rockies
From close up, the cap is pretty cool with the
overlapping "C" and "R". But from far away, this cap is
just a big blur of black, white and purple. That's an odd and ugly color combination,
because they just don't flow so well together.
29. Miami Marlins
The Marlins were pretty busy last offseason, building
a new stadium with new uniforms, caps, and logos. However, the splash of colors
on the cap is a pretty bad mix, as you can’t really see the marlin very well on
the cap.
28. Houston Astros
Wait, what am I looking at again? Oh yeah, a bad cap
for a bad team. I don’t know what the designers for this cap were thinking.
Looking at this unfinished star, people can’t really tell whose cap this is. Although
I like the color the combination, the logo baffles me.
27. Washington Nationals
Something about this cap makes it look more of a kids’
cap than a Major League franchise’s cap. The “W” may be it. Even from close up,
it’s hard to tell what that is, and from far away, it’s worse; a big blur,
really. The simplicity is good, but not the logo.
26. Baltimore Orioles
Like the Washington Nationals, the Oriole logo looks
too immature. Baltimore used to have a simpler, more normal looking bird last
year. Now they have a more cartoony bird that is just unfitting. The logo may
look good… on a little league cap.
25. San Diego Padres
The Padres cap is listed low on this list because it
misuses the overlapping letter design. Unlike a Dodgers or Giants cap (who are
ranked high on this list), you can’t really tell what letters are on the cap,
from close up or far away.
24. New York Mets
Though some may really like this hat, I don’t. First
of all, you can’t really tell what is supposed to be on it. It may look better
with an outline. The only bright spot is that they use this more than their
alternate cap, an ugly black and blue one that had no orange at all.
23. Los Angeles Angels
I like the halo on this cap. I really do. It looks
very modern and fitting. After all, Los Angeles is the city of Angels. What I
don’t like is the color combination with red on red. Even with an outline, I don’t
really like it. It blurs together, and it just isn't an amazing-looking cap overall.
22. Cleveland Indians
The Indians have tinkered with their caps as of late,
and seem to have settled on this Wahoo Indian cap and their alternate, a black
cap with a tall, red “C”. It’s a decent baseball cap, just not a decent
baseball team. This is another example of an “immature” cap.
21. Milwaukee Brewers
The hat has a good color scheme. Actually, Milwaukee probably
did too much to the hat. I don’t think the curl on the “M” looks right, and I
don’t really think the wheat is needed, either. Like most, I prefer the Brewers
old caps better.
20. Seattle Mariners
The “S” on the Mariners’ hat looks great everywhere,
especially the jerseys. The only place it doesn't look good is the cap. You
can’t really tell what’s going on with the cap, close up or far away. However,
this cap is a major improvement to their old one. Look it up if you are really curious to see how awful Seattle's caps used to be. You can look it up in the search bar right underneath the calendar.
19. Minnesota Twins
I like this hat. It’s simple and conservative. It
shows the type of team the Twins are: average and in the middle of the pack.
Target Field can see their Twins a fine looking hat. The cap is a balance of
classic and modern. The color scheme thrives as well.
18. Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates have used this cap for a while now, and
it’s very easy to recognize and get used to. It looks good and you can tell
it’s purpose close up and far away. Now Pirates fans have another thing to brag
about: They’re a winning team (finally). There's nothing extremely wrong with the Pirates' cap; it's just that it isn't as good as some other, more historic MLB hats.
17. Arizona Diamondbacks
From close up, this cap looks pretty cool. It has a
nice color scheme with a modern logo: a diamondback forming the letter “D”. But from far
away, the cap becomes a big blur, the “D” somewhat looks more like an “O”, and you can’t
even tell there’s a snake on the hat from far away.
16.
Texas Rangers
It’s hard to call this cap #16. I mean, it has a great
color scheme, was worn by some great players, and you can tell it’s great close
up and far away. Its simplicity is great, yet it has a hint of modern on it.
But before 2010, the Rangers were one of the worst in baseball. It doesn't make the cap a bad one. It's like the Pirates' cap. It looks great; just not as great as some others.
15. Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays used to have terrible caps with a terrible
team and a terrible color scheme. Now, it’s simple, works well with the
uniform, and a lot more tolerable. I also like its new color combination and
the “T” and “B” work very well together.
14. Oakland Athletics
The A’s have kept their logos and caps the same for a
while now, and I don’t see a need to change it. It has a classical color
scheme, and a classical history. The only thing left for the A’s to fix is
their stadium, which shares with the Oakland football team, the Raiders.
13.
Kansas City Royals
The Royals have one of the best color combinations in
baseball. Their hats fit very well with their uniforms and stadiums. Royals
fans have a treat as this cap is very serviceable far away and close up. The
“K” and “C” fit very well. Now all KC needs is a good team.
12. Toronto Blue Jays
The Jays have tinkered with their logo, cap and
uniform, and I like the changes made. Though it is cartoony like the Orioles
cap, it doesn’t look immature. Just take out the maple leaf. Baseball is
America’s pastime, not Canada’s pastime.
11. Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies
has settled with this cap, and I like it. It works well from any angle. You can
tell its purpose right away. I would prefer an outline around the “P”, but it’s
the way it is right now is great as well. I like the hat’s simplicity too.
10. Cincinnati Reds
I like this cap. It took a color combination of red,
white and black and transformed it well. The “C” on the hat is cool, modern and
yet classic. The Reds have had this logo and cap for a while, and have thrived.
As good as this cap is, I like their 2-toned alternates better.
9. Atlanta Braves
Atlanta has some really good caps. They take a cool
color scheme and turn it into something unique. Though this hat is great, I
prefer their alternates. Their hat really matches their logo and uniform, and
you can tell what it’s supposed to be close up and far away.
8. Chicago White Sox
The Sox have used this cap for a while, and it looks
great. The Sox have been playing great too. The White Sox are one of those
teams that have their team logo on the hat, but not their city logo. That
uniqueness makes this cap stand out. The team logo and hat is cool.
7. San Francisco Giants
I love the Giants' cap. They also have a cool 2-toned
alternate that is just as great. Every thing from the dark black and the rich
orange make this cap have a good color combination, which the Giants use great.
Many great players have worn this hat too, making it historical.
6. St. Louis Cardinals
This has been a cap the Cardinals have worn for a
while because of its success and great look. While many teams have tried to
combine the letters of their city together (and failed) the Cardinals have made
it work. It is simple but powerful.
5. Boston Red Sox
This cap is definitely legendary and Top 5 worthy of
this list. A very classic yet modern cap mixed with a historical team gels
really well together. They have a two toned alternate which I like just as much
and they have a classical navy blue cap with red socks which is cool too.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers
Unlike their crosstown rivals, the Dodgers kept things
simple. A great use of letter overlapping with a quiet but lashing color scheme
makes this a #4 cap. This is one of the most recognizable caps in the MLB
because of its simplicity and great looks.
3. Detroit Tigers
How can you deny an amazing cap with a perfect color
combination, a great team, a great stadium and history? The letter “D” is possibly the
most original logo of them all. They have an awesome alternate too, with an
orange “D”.
This cap’s simplicity yet interesting “C” is like no
other. It looks like not much was put in this cap, but the best color scheme in
the MLB with history and fame worn by many greats make this the second best cap
in the MLB. You can recognize the entire cap from close up, or in the upper
deck of Wrigley Field. Their two toned alternates are just as good. When you
think of the Cubs, you might think about this great cap, along with historic Wrigley Field.
1. New York
Yankees
Hate to
say it, but again, the New York Yankees manage to win in yet another MLB contest.
The cap is home to the most winning World Series team in the MLB with the most
history and a great stadium, old and new. From close up or far away, you
immediately know that this IS the Yankees. A legendary cap worn by many greats
wins again. The simplicity of the color scheme, black and white makes it so
appealing to the eye. So many teams try to copy the famous “N” and “Y”
overlapping and while many do greater than others, this hat and logo is second
to none. Also, unlike many teams, New York doesn’t have and alternate cap
meaning every time you come to a Yankees game, you know that you can see your
team donned in pinstripes and the best cap in the MLB.
This blog is so legit! I love it!
